Описание: Ghatshila is a small town in the state of Jharkhand, known for its Natural scenic beauty and for the great Bengali author Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay. For tourists, Ghatshila can be a very good Weekend Tour Destination.

Ghatshila, by road, is about 240 kilometers from Howrah in West Bengal and about 45 kilometers from the Steel city of Jamshedpur. It is well connected with its neighbouring states and the rest of the country by roads and railways.

One of the major tourist attraction of Ghatshila is the ‘Dharagiri Falls’, amidst a canopy of green forest.

Ghatshila provides the opportunity to spend quality time with Nature. There are mystical waterfalls, picturesque hills and vast areas of forest, suitable for trekking and adventure.

Ghatshila is also famous for the well-known Burudi Lake. Tourists come here all round the year to experience the scenic beauty of the location. The lake is surrounded by hills and forest known as ‘Dolma’ area. Often wild animals including elephants can be spotted in the region. Tourists can enjoy boating at Burudi Lake. The dam here had been constructed many years ago.

The River Subarnarekha flows beside Ghatshila. Small hills covered with forest along the river makes a must-visit place for tourists. There are numerous picnic-spots along the river banks.

Tourists can enjoy sunrise and sunset from the Chitrakoot hillock of Ghatshila. There is a temple at the top of the hill. The Chitrakoot hillock of Ghatshila provides the tourists an opportunity to get a beautiful aerial view of a section of the town.

Ghatshila is also famous, as well-known Bengali author Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay had settled here and most of his literary creations were penned here. His residence at Ghatshila was named after his wife ‘Gauri Kunj’. Numerous articles used by him along with many rare photographs are exhibited at ‘Gauri Kunj’.
