Most OW2 fights have 3 phases.
1. Poke/posture - we're taking potshots at each other and rotating and counter-rotating for good positions. Getting information is super important here so you know where the threats are.
2. FIGHT! - Attacking team engages, usually the tank. Teams are in lethal distance of each other. Cooldowns are spent.
3. Cleanup - The losing team tries to get away and the winning team tries to get as many stagger kills as possible.
Our issue is we don't have a very clear idea of when the fight will begin in earnest. So we take long rotations, or force ourselves onto a very aggressive flank before the fight has fully broken out. In other words, we're either too late or too early.
There are a lot of moments where we could simply wait for things to develop a little, see what's happening, and then capitalize on mistakes.
Macro note: When we're in poke and prefight, let's verbalize when the fight is about to start and we have our window. "Wait for it.... wait for it.... now!"
Micro notes: Whenever you ult, pick out the safest spot for you to remech. Don't blind matrix or matrix when you first see someone. Take a bit of damage and then matrix (unless there's a very specific cooldown like sleep, but we're still usually going to force those cooldowns with damage).
