Driving through Detroit is a real eye opener for those who have never visited. What makes Detroit unique is that whereas most cities are say, 80% nice and 20% rough, Detroit is the opposite. Even if you live in the nice 20%, you're still surrounded by the other 80%. This Detroit Ghetto Tour focuses on the 80% of the city that is in shambles.
2017: The city IS making some progress in leveling abandoned buildings, but most of the new construction in Detroit is centered around the downtown area. The rest of the city is still pretty much a wasteland, with small pockets of decent areas in between.
