A tour bus stops in a busy Egyptian town square while tourists scatter to browse the little market stalls, one tourist checks his watch only to realize it’s dead, so he asks a local man squatting beside a camel what time it is, the local calmly reaches out, gently lifts the camel’s genitals for a moment, squints, and says, “About two o’clock,” the tourist is horrified but runs back to the bus anyway and sure enough it’s exactly two, amazed, he tells the others the man can tell time by weighing a camel’s private parts, which of course sounds insane, so another tourist goes over to test it and watches the exact same ritual produce the correct time, now fully confused, the bus driver marches over and demands to know how this ridiculous method actually works, the local smiles and says, “Sit here, lift them up like this,” pauses, then adds, “now look underneath to the other side of the courtyard where the clock is hanging on the wall.”
