In this video I made a skater dress with cutouts in the front and back. This dress is so cute. It was made with a non stretch fabric and does require lining. This skater dress has darts at the neckline, bust, and waist. I used a dress form to design the top. However, if you don't have a dress form you can always use a shirt that you already own as the pattern.

What you'll need to make this dress:
2 yards of non stretch fabric
2 yards of non stretch lining
dress form
draping tape
muslin
scissors
thread
pins
needles
sharpie
rulers
heat bond
zipper (12 to 14 inch)
sewing machine
overlock machine (optional)
hook and eye
