On March 20, 1982, 16-year-old Kim Louiselle was kicked out of her boyfriend's car after an argument on a dark Michigan road. With no money and no phone, she did what teenagers did back then—she stuck out her thumb to hitchhike home.
She was never seen alive again.
Three weeks later, hikers found her body at Island Lake State Recreation Area. She'd been sexually assaulted and murdered. For 40 years, her sister Cindy Arthurs fought for answers, refusing to let police close the case.
In 2023, advanced DNA testing finally revealed the killer: Andrew Cecil, a local predator who knew the backroads and had been hunting in the area for years. By the time he was identified, he'd been dead for 16 years—having lived 25 years after murdering Kim.
This is the story of the dark road home that became a death trap, and the sister who never stopped fighting for justice.
