Support for Ukraine was the focus of the panel discussion "Coalition of the Able? Securing Long-Term Support for Ukraine" at the Munich Security Conference. Speaking on the topic were Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, and Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament. The discussion was moderated by Christiane Amanpour, Chief International Anchor, Cable News Network.
Zelensky again held out the prospect of elections in his country, but tied this to the condition of a two-month ceasefire. The Ukrainian president repeatedly emphasized the importance of security guarantees for his country after a ceasefire, so that Russia’s president Vladimir Putin would not invade again.
