This train station set includes four minifigures, all perfectly themed to fit into the LEGO City world. You’ll find a train conductor, a taxi driver, a woman with a couple of briefcases or luggage, and a backpacker with a detachable backpack. The variety of characters leaves room for plenty of creative play. Just like other minifigures, you can mix and match their heads, bodies, and legs to create new characters of your own. Your LEGO passengers arrive at the station in the included yellow taxicab. The taxi holds two minifigures, including the driver, and displays a few relevant stickers so there is no confusion as to its purpose. Your passengers can hop out and grab their luggage from the trunk and head to the small kiosk to purchase their tickets and check in their bags. A nearby timetable and railway map help ensure that they are headed to the right final destination. Passengers can then head up over the pedestrian bridge to the other side of the tracks. There they find a cozy store or gift shop that sells a few nondescript items you can use your imagination to define. There’s a cash register, so you may want to appoint one of your minifigures to be the cashier. Outside the store is a small waiting area with two chairs for passengers. A clock helps keep the travelers on schedule. This set, much like others in the LEGO City line, has a lot of small details that collectors will appreciate. The store has a sliding glass door, as well as some flower pots for decoration. There are pretend light posts to help light the way as passengers cross the walkway and wait for the train. The shop building has a loudspeaker so travelers can hear announcements about incoming trains. This isn’t your Grand Central Station sort of train station. This is the type of platform you find outside of a big city, where there is just a kiosk and no ticket counter, and perhaps just a small shop or newsstand instead of stores and restaurants. There’s no indoor waiting area, so passengers must brave the elements. The set does come with four pieces of straight train track to connect the station to other LEGO City train sets. And, like any LEGO set, you can choose to follow the instructions or use your imagination to create something entirely new.
