The unprecedented police presence in Rohtak, located in the north Indian state of Haryana, is to ensure that no more violence takes place when self-proclaimed godman Gurmeet Singh is sentenced for rape. Singh was sent to Rohtak's Sunaria jail after the verdict was announced on August 25. In the following days, at least 30 people were killed during riots.
