Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced on Friday that Parliament's Budget Session 2026—the longest of the year—will kick off on January 28 and wrap up on April 2, including a mid-session recess.

The Union Budget is anticipated to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, a Sunday. This adjusted timeline for the session's second part accounts for upcoming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, scheduled for March-April.

In an X post, Rijiju noted that President Droupadi Murmu has approved the government's request to convene both Houses. "The initial phase ends February 13, 2026, with proceedings resuming March 9, 2026—to foster robust discussions and responsive governance," he added.
