After a long run of testing delays, Exo finally debuted their first Siemens charger on line 12 as exo-185-03. This is about a week after Exo had sent their charger to their maintenance centre in Pointe-Saint-Charles for a media day to showcase their new locomotive.

DEC 23 UPDATE: This locomotive was recently withdrawn from service on line 12, as was a second Siemens locomotive which experienced mechanical problems on the night of its debut on December 15. The second locomotive (most likely 1402) was powering an 8 car consist and ran as exo-195 before encountering its problems at Vendome.
In 2021, Réseau de Transport Métropolitain, or obviously better known by the brand name Exo, issued a tender for the procurement of tier 4 diesel passenger locomotives, with Siemens Mobility being awarded the $153M contract near the end of that year. With the help of SYSTRA Canada to ensure that the locomotive met the technical, safety and performance requirements for Exo, the agency then went ahead and placed an order for 10 Charger locomotives with modifications to suit their needs. Modifications include the 200 HP reduction from the main model (the SC-44), a streamlined nose cone (which makes their locomotive appear similar to models like the ALC-42 or the SC42-DM) and dual MKT 75-5 horns. These horns were manufactured by Kockums Sonics and were designed to imitate the Nathan K5CA-LS also knows as the 'emergency horn'. Via rails SCV-42's are also equipped with this horn.

These locomotives will only replace the 10 F59PH’s in service on the Mascouche and Mont-St-Hilaire lines. The F59PHI’s will remain in service as a result of a $26M overhaul contract with CAD Rail assisted by SYSTRA Canada.
SIIX 1400 is seen here leading the 4:40 outbound already a few minutes behind schedule 2 months later after our last encounter hauling a set of six brand-new CRRC-built bilevels at full speed.
This bi-level set was previously powered by F59PHI 1329.
Trains always operate in push mode with the cab car leading the train out of Lucien Lallier. For this occasion, the consist was wyed at the South Junction on the Adirondack Subdivision right outside its origin rail yard for the locomotive to be the first sight when entering stations.
