At first, he thought it was a mistake. Who puts jet fuel in a dirt bike? But the truth was brutal — too many troops had been stranded in firefights after filling up with the wrong fuel. The military’s answer? Make every machine on the battlefield run on the same thing: JP-8 jet fuel.
So engineers rebuilt a Kawasaki with a custom diesel engine that could sip the same fuel as F-18s and Apache helicopters. The result was insane — 96 miles per gallon and over 500 miles of nonstop range. Only 440 were ever built before the project disappeared.
