Tristan da Cunha is located in the middle of the southern Atlantic Ocean and is considered the most remote inhabited island in the world. The island and its namesake archipelago are part of the British Overseas Territory of Saint Helena and are 2437 km away from the island of Saint Helena and 2810 km from Cape Town. In Tristan da Cunha lies the most isolated settlement on Earth: Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, where only about 250 inhabitants live. Covid has never reached the island, Internet is available only during certain hours, there is no mobile phone network at all, and the only way to leave the island is by a couple of fishing boats that depart once a month.
We'll discover in this new episode of "Earth's Records" what kind of place Tristan da Cunha is and how life is lived isolated from the rest of the world.
