This is what you should expect to see if you plant Buffalograss seed and then wait three weeks. Each seed turns into a tiny bush of leaves while the entire lawn space still looks somewhat thin. Soon each tuft of grass will start spreading across the ground and fill in the gaps. That's why you don't need as much seed compared to bunch-type grasses like Perennial Rye or Tall Fescue.
