I purchased this Digitrax DCS240 in July 2021 and it worked flawlessly for about 3 months when everything went dead one day while running Trains on my layout. After making sure this wasn't due to a short on the layout, I changed out the DCS240 with a spare DCS100 and everything worked. As you can see in the video, the Pwr. light (Green) and the NET light (Red) are toggling back and fourth at a steady pace which according to the DCS240 manual means this DCS240 is stuck in "Update Firmware Mode".
This is the first piece of equipment I've had from Digitrax go bad in 20 years of using Digitrax. I contacted Digitrax who confirmed what the manual stated and told me to send it in for repair. Components go bad and who knows how long the components were sitting on the shelf before this DCS240 was put together. I know this from my 20+ years as an Elevator Mechanic that even though they use static controls today to run Elevators, components sit on the shelf for a long time before being assembled onto a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and components go bad all the time. The same goes for anything electronic and eventually you will have something go bad.
So it's off to the Post Office to get this sent off to it's Florida vacation in Panama City, FL. for repair. I hope this video helps someone in some way and Thank You for watching.
