Here's an update on the much-awaited new rail corridor between Kalyan-Badlapur section. The entire corridor is expected to be complete by December 2026.
The existing two lines between Kalyan and Karjat are carrying mixed traffic of Mail/express, Goods trains and also suburban services.
The project is 14 Route km and will cost around Rs. 1510 Crores.
The Satellite towns and cities of Badlapur, Ambarnath, Ulhasnagar need proper suburban rail connection for journey to Kalyan and Mumbai.
Present services are run with terminals at Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat, Khopoli and cannot be increased due to saturation on Kalyan-Badlapur section.
The new suburban corridor from Kalyan to Badlapur will enable augmentation of suburban rail services and will provide much needed suburban rail connectivity to these towns and will provide the infrastructure for their development.
