The ceremonial sceptre or Sengol that was given to the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to symbolise the transfer of power in August 1947 will now sit in the new Parliament building. The historical sceptre will be installed near the chair of the Lok Sabha speaker on May 28 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi opens the new building.
