About 4 million years ago, the first forms of life appeared on Earth. But the precise mechanism of how that happened remains still unknown. What are the fundamental physical processes involved? And, what are the conditions required for life to appear? To answer these questions, we have Sonia Antoranz Contera, who is a researcher in the Biophysics sub-department at the University of Oxford.
The questions:
01:03: What is life?
01:35: How did life start?
05:26: The role of entropy.
11:00: Is self-replication a fundamental principle of life?
13:51: How can we test different hypothesis about how life started?
15:56: What are the chances of finding life in other planets?
17:07: A bit more about Sonia’s research.
Prof Sonia Contera's latest book is 'Nano comes to life' and you can find it on your local bookseller or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nano-Comes-L...
