Dhamek Stupa Sarnath near Varanasi – The place of Buddhist Worship where Buddha’s ashes are preserved - located about 13 Kms from Varanasi city, this place is a pilgrimage site for Buddhists around the world. We reached Sarnath at around 6:00 am and the ticket counter had just opened. We bought the tickets and went in quickly as we wanted to capture the sunrise. The place is well maintained - but still it is mostly ruins. One can see the carvings on stones and imagine the grandeur of this place centuries ago. After a few minutes we saw many worshipers who were praying here and included a short video of the ceremony. It was quiet and peaceful out there. This video is a tribute to this place and all those who follow the path of Buddha. If you visit Varanasi, do visit Dhamek Stupa at Sarnath.
