On April 28, 2025, Norway achieved something unprecedented: becoming the first nation to receive all of its ordered F-35 Lightning II fighter jets. Not the United States. Not the United Kingdom. On the same day, Norway received its first Joint Strike Missile (JSM)—a Norwegian-designed cruise missile so advanced that the United States, Australia, and Japan are now buying it. This marks a historic reversal: typically, America develops weapons and exports them to allies. This time, a small Nordic nation created a weapon so good that the Pentagon signed a $141 million contract to acquire it.
