Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday criticized the Sovereign Gold Bonds scheme, calling it a complete failure since its introduction in 2015. He argued that the scheme has failed to curb gold imports or aid government borrowings. Gogoi also claimed that GST evasion has doubled to ₹2 lakh crore in 2023. Attacking the government, he highlighted a decline in the manufacturing sector's contribution to GDP, which has dropped from 17% in 2010 to 12.9% today.
