To drive a JDM import like the Toyota Alphard or Vellfire in the UK, you need to know your speed in MPH. Instead of paying for an expensive electronic "speedo chip" or rewiring the car, I decided to swap the dial fascia for a cleaner, factory-style look.
In this video, I show you how to remove the instrument cluster (dash clocks), disassemble the unit, and install the new MPH dial overlay. This is a cheaper alternative to electronic converters and keeps the odometer reading in Kilometers (which is often preferred for resale validation).
⚠️ DISCLAIMER: I am not a professional mechanic or auto-electrician. This video is for entertainment and documentation purposes only. Disassembling the instrument cluster involves fragile plastic clips and sensitive needles. As shown in the video, clips can break easily! Removing and replacing the gauge needles can affect the accuracy of your speedometer. Ensure you mark the resting points carefully. Attempt this mod at your own risk. If you are unsure, consult a professional gauge specialist.
