After the curtain fell on the world-famous Bargarh Dhanu Yatra, the actor portraying the mighty Kansa performed ritual atonement at Shreekhetra Puri. As part of age-old tradition, he visited Puri to seek spiritual purification following the conclusion of the festival.

Kansa sought forgiveness before Jagatguru Shankaracharya, took a holy dip in the Mahodadhi (the sea) to cleanse sins, offered prayers to Surya Dev, and ceremonially discarded the sacred thread worn during the enactment of the role.
