Indian Army Raising 'Baaz Battalions' to Boost Drone Warfare and Aerial Surveillance

Описание: The Indian Army is raising specialised Baaz Battalions to enhance aerial surveillance, drone warfare, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities. The new units will comprise trained personnel to operate remotely piloted aircraft and provide frontline formations with real-time battlefield awareness. Expected to function under the Army Aviation Corps, the initiative draws lessons from recent conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war, the LAC standoff with China, and Operation Sindoor. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also said the Army's drone inventory has grown from a few hundred to over 50,000, with plans to double that number over the next two to three years.
