Paris, Caves Saint-Sabin, January 18 2026
As winter envelops Paris in an almost medieval mist, HBO Max has transformed the Caves Saint-Sabin into a veritable fragment of Westeros with the pop-up opening of The Stag Inn, the tavern of the Seven Kingdoms, an immersive experience organized this evening to accompany the arrival of the hit series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The venue, designed as an inn straight out of George R.R. Martin's stories, offers guests a sensory immersion into the chivalrous world of the Seven Kingdoms, combining a medieval-inspired banquet, themed entertainment, and exclusive encounters. In addition to a conference hosted by content creator Rivenzi, a key figure in French-speaking geek culture, there will be a cocktail specially created by Michelin-starred chef Matthieu Dupuis Baumal, promoted for the occasion to the rank of true Master of Feasts.
This initiative accompanies the growing anticipation surrounding A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new creation by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin, adapted from the novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg and set nearly a century before the events of Game of Thrones. The series will follow the travels of Peter Claffey in the role of Ser Duncan the Tall, a brave but still naive young knight, and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire, Prince Aegon Targaryen, nicknamed Egg. At a time when the Targaryen dynasty still reigns supreme and the memory of dragons has not completely faded, their adventures will intersect with those of colorful characters such as Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen. The cast is further enriched by the presence of Edward Ashley, Henry Ashton, Youssef Kerkour, Daniel Monks, Shaun Thomas, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Danny Webb, Ross Anderson, and Steve Wall, forming an artistic ensemble worthy of the saga's legacy.
The project, which began in 2021, took a decisive step forward with the official commissioning of the series in 2023 under the creative supervision of George R.R. Martin, alongside executive producers Ira Parker, Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw. The first season will consist of six episodes, the first three directed by Owen Harris and the following three by Sarah Adina Smith, while the music has been entrusted to composer Dan Romer, whose melodic and emotional approach promises to accompany a more intimate narrative than the political epics of Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon. Filming, which took place between June and September 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, returns to the lands that shaped the visual identity of Westeros, and the confirmation of a second season in November 2025 already demonstrates HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery's confidence in the show's potential.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on January 18, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max at a rate of one episode per week, opening a new gateway to this universe where honor, friendship, and loyalty take precedence over power games. The story, centered on the relationship between Ser Duncan and Egg, promises to be a more human, almost legendary chronicle, reminding us that before betrayals and titanic battles, there were modest destinies forged along the roads. For one night, The Stag Inn, the tavern of the Seven Kingdoms, will echo this tone by offering Parisian fans the illusion of a warm refuge where they might encounter a knight in search of adventure or a bard singing the exploits of the Targaryens.
