This track, Morning Mr Magpie, was on Radiohead’s album The King of Limbs, the eighth studio album, which was released in 2011. It was originally an acoustic ballad from around 2002 when it also had the name Morning M’Lord.

The title probably comes from the old British folklore of when you see a single magpie which is meant to bring bad luck so to ward off misfortune you salute and say Good Morning Mr Magpie.

Magpies have long been associated with death and in medieval times they were often seen scavenging near battlefields, gallows and field hospitals where they fed on carrion.

I covered Radiohead before when they did a cover of a Joy Division track Ceremony. They are an English rock band that were formed in a small town Abingdon, just outside Oxford in England. They actually met at Abingdon school.

The band was originally formed at Abingdon school around 1985, comprising Thom Yorke, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, Philip Selway, Johnny Greenwood. Clive Deamer became drummer from 2011.
