Farewell 'Wunala', Qantas' last 747-400 leaves Sydney - 22 July 2020

Описание: The sad day that no one wanted to come has arrived. Qantas' last 747 departs for retirement from Sydney Airport as QF 7474.

The iconic jumbo got to perform a lap of honour around the airport, including a water cannon salute before departing from Runway 16R to the south. Wunala then performed a flyover along Runway 07 before heading north for two flyover's of the city. She then flew south to Wollongong to say farewell to VH-OJA at the HARS Museum before drawing a Qantas kangaroo logo over the Tasman Sea.

Wunala's departure from the fleet ends 49 years of 747 service with Qantas. The type was due for retirement by year's end, but the current global situation has seen that process sped up considerably - not just at Qantas, but in airline fleets around the world.

While a sad occasion, it was a great chance to be here for the final goodbye and to see so many people out to pay tribute at all the viewing spots around the airport.
