Towanda Braxton explains "the braxtons" group break up on "Starting over"

Towanda Braxton shares her story on "Starting Over" and why she came to the "Starting Over" house. This was the 4th episode of the show's second season. Towanda Braxton's goal was to "discover true self". She brings up her father's cheating, the breaking up of "The Braxtons" group, Traci being kicked out of the group by the label, Tamar going solo, more, Iyanla Vanzant also gives her an assignment to sing live acapella at a mall.

Starting Over was a reality show that aired for 3 seasons from 2003 til 2006. 3 life coaches, Rhonda Britten, Rana Walker, Iyanla Vanzant, and male clinical and forensic psychologist named Dr. Stan J Katz helped 6 women (6 at a time) change their lives. Stan J. Katz and Iyanla joined the show during Season 2. Iyanla replaced Rana Walker as the second life coach.

Rana Walker's exit from the show was never explianed on the show. Rana left a statement on her website at the time. From what I heard, the show originally wanted Iyanla during season one but Iyanla turned it down because was taking care of her daughter Gemmia, who died of cancer Christmas 2003.

On the show, each woman is given a goal and steps to achieve the goal from the life coaches. When a woman achieves her goal, she graduates. If she recieves 2 c's in a row or an F at the "Board of Review" (where their progress is graded), they're asked to leave.

If they are harming their own progress or the progress of others, they're asked to leave immediately. They're also free to leave on their own if they're too uncomfortable, which is what Towanda's housemate Deborah did.


Again, I used season 3's opener since the person on daily motion cut the intros out and Season 3 used clips from season 2 anyways.
