A business goal isn’t always a leadership objective. There’s a difference.
Day 19 - The Year of The Leader
In 2026, one of the biggest mistakes leaders make is thinking they’re clear… when they’re actually clear on the wrong thing. I had a conversation today with someone starting a CPA practice, and I recognized something immediately: his goal was the same goal I had back in 2002. That’s a wake-up call.
Here’s the difference: a business goal can be about surviving. A leadership objective is about serving, building, and creating impact beyond yourself. When clarity is missing, you’ll aim at what’s familiar—salary replacement, comfort, “taking care of me.” But when you understand the landscape of where you’re going, everything changes. Clarity drives success, helps you hit goals, and reduces stress.
And here’s the key: clarity without purpose will be lacking. Purpose is the “why.” If you’re not clear on why you’re building, you’ll always feel like something’s missing—even if you’re winning.
Drop a comment with the leadership objective you’re getting clear on in 2026. Let’s build enterprises, not just businesses. #shorts
