Update Overview
In this update, I’m showing:
The new Battle Race type
The new Fast Travel system
Cockpit camera free-look / orbit

The Cars in This Race:
The AI is driving a GTT R34 with a BSK body kit
While the player is driving an
with a full EC-I Veilside kit and single turbo conversion

AI Improvements:
The AI has undergone significant improvements since the last showcase.
It wiggles much less as such overtakes are cleaner, & Overall behaviour is more controlled.
In this race, the AI is a 9999-rep driver, while the player only has about 3,000 rep, so things get a little chaotic.
This is basically the most aggressive the AI will ever be.
Balancing aggression is very hard!
If the AI avoids all collisions, it becomes too easy to bully and push around, which kills the intensity. So there’s a fine line between smart and aggressive.
With that being said, I still have more ideas to test and implement, so it will continue to improve.

New Fast Travel System:
Fast travel now works through the loader trucks placed all over the map.
There are currently 4 on the Mount Haruna map
They’re typically located on out-of-bounds roads, and if you drive up to one, pay a small fee, and you’ll be transported to a set location
This will be the standard fast travel system going forward.
However On larger maps:
There will be more trucks
Which means you'll be able to choose which destination you fast travel to
The old Prologue fast travel system has been completely removed & reworked to suit this version of the game, and as such, the new system feels much more natural and is significantly faster.

The camera model has changed, you can now use free-look in cockpit view, which works with mouse & joystick; however, it is only available while stationary or at low speeds
currently it doesn’t work during cutscenes (like race start sequences), but that’s something JEM is determined to explore later.

Here's Some Stuff Not In The Video:
AI drivers can now occasionally send you text messages mid-race.
If a rival driver falls far behind during a race, they may offer you money to restart the race.
New Map Progress:
Oi Wharf Map Progress
The new Oi Wharf map is coming along really well & at this pace, it should be ready within a few months.
It’ll be the next map added to the Private Alpha and will act somewhat like a hub world.
Private Alpha Testing:
Testing for the Private Alpha starts in the next few weeks.
There’s still no exact date, but we’re getting very close now.
Most of the major work is done — it’s mainly polishing and making sure everything works as intended.
I don’t know how long testing will last before the Patreon release becomes available, but I’ll keep you updated once testing begins.

Current problems to fix in order of priority:
Lots of small bug fixes (dumb stuff)
Full car body kit customisation (needs its own menu and logic)
New crews

Endless Appeal and G-Company are fully playable with new car models, and more crews will follow shortly in a few weeks. The main focus right now is getting to the minimum required point for testing to begin
