We’re at the end of December, and this is our 6-week update in Honor the Mustang’s journey.

In this video, I share where we are with halter training — not with a deadline or agenda, but with patience, choice, and trust leading the way. Honor is becoming more comfortable with touch, with the feel of the rope and halter around his head, and with choosing to engage rather than flee. Some days that looks like putting his nose in the halter. Some days it looks like walking away to process — and both are progress.

I talk through why I often still use carrots when we’re asking him to step outside his comfort zone, how I invite him into the halter rather than placing it on him, and why honoring his timing matters more than “getting it done.” - bonus footage of carrot monster included!!

You’ll also see how winter weather has changed his setup, giving him more freedom to move and seek shelter while still choosing to stay connected with us — a decision that says a lot about where he’s at mentally.

This little mustang gelding is our horse, we have the time to build out the foundation this winter because he'll be with us a long time. Honor’s story isn’t about quick results. It’s about learning, trust, and letting a mustang feel safe enough to say yes.
