Hi, I'm Jim Oswald Tech Support Supervisor for Sierra Instruments in Monterey, California. I'm just going to answer a few questions today about our line of scientific controllers and meters, called our 100 SmartTrak Series.

By the way, in the back here are some examples of our 100 SmartTrak controllers and meters. We have a big one here. We have some smaller ones. They come in different sizes and flow rates. You might wonder what some of these features are on these controllers. Okay, I want to just zoom in a little bit on the display here and show you what we can do.

We press enter, ask for a password so it can be protected and then we have change setpoint. When I want to set this up to flow two liters a minute, or five liters a minute, I'll press enter and change the numbers on this screen. And then just press the button again and away it goes to that flow rate. Immediately. Within a few seconds. You're flowing exactly what you asked for.

We can change the units. So this one happens to be set up in standard liters a minute. The SmartTrak 100 has ten gases that can be pre-programmed. It says hydrogen, but if I press enter I can scroll and choose methane, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, oxygen, air, etc. Or you can tell us your special mixture and we can pre-program that.

Next menu, change valve operation. Can be automatic. Can be purge, which means it's open all the time for some function you want to run. Or closed, in other words it won't respond to a setpoint until you change it to automatic and press enter. You can also change the setpoint source. This one happens to be set up for Pilot RS232. So your computer or the screen, but you can also change to analog signals. And then we can change the output signals.

Here's the full scale. We can change the full scale if you'd like, so that will scale your analog outputs. You can change the span. Right now it's set up at one, which is how it comes from the factory. And, lastly, you can zero the meter.

What other features would you like to know about on these? Well, let me give you just a couple.

You can, instead of getting the touchpad, you can get what this one has on the front. It's called a Compod. And a Compod is a nice little module that replaces the touchpad. And what it allows you to do is communicate not only with this one but with over 200 of them if you did a multi drop. You could use Modbus, Profibus, and different digital communication protocols like that to communicate to it. This allows you to batch control. In other words, I might tell it, "I want 36 liters and when you get there shut off." So that can be programmed in.

You can also input some pressure gauges or other gauges, so you can say, "When you get my vessel to 30 PSI, I want you to shut off." And it will do that. It will totalize the flow over time, and a lot of other little nifty things. This is called a Compod. Comes with free software that's available on our website or on a disk that we send you. And basically that software mirrors whatever this touchpad does plus a little bit more.

If you're in the scientific world, you might want to know what are some examples or some companies or types of labs that would use this product. We have customers like Lawrence Livermore Labs, Sandia National Labs, Scripps. We have NASA. Lockheed Martin uses them, Dugway Proving Grounds, and Oregon National Labs. Other military and scientific organizations and labs. Of course universities use these all the time.
