They say self-love is the best love, and I couldn’t agree more. Recently, I found myself reflecting on my past, and I couldn’t help but feel sad for my younger self.
As a little brown girl, I was often told to change the way I looked. Sadly, this is a common experience, and I never gave it much thought until I spoke to a friend who had gone through the same thing. We laughed about it at first, but then we realized, “Wow, that’s so messed up.”
After some self-reflection and knowing how many others have faced similar struggles, I decided to share my thoughts. I’m in a much better place now, but I know that’s not the case for everyone.
My hope for this video is that it reaches those who need to hear it.
