Punjab will conduct a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, starting February–March this year.
The Election Commission of India has directed preparations to correct errors in electoral rolls and improve voter data accuracy. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been given five days to fix photo, name, and mapping-related mistakes in voter lists. Earlier SIR phases in 12 states and UTs led to the removal of 6.59 crore names from draft voter lists.
