1350 g yarn, 6.75 g caribbean blue, 3.375 g brilliant yellow, 3.375 g deep magenta
[5:32] Presoaking the yarn
[6:17] Dyeing the Yellow Layer
Adding the yarn to the dye before adding any acid to get more coverage with the yellow
Add 500 mL of white vinegar (~ 2 cups) after stirring a lot.
This was filmed in August 2020 on a hot day
After a couple of hours, all the color absorbed, so we removed the yarn to prep for the next color
[9:09] Dyeing the pink layer
Add the yarn, then wait a couple of hours
move the zip ties so a different part of the yarn goes into the bucket first for round 3
[14:35] Dyeing the blue layer
leave the yarn overnight to set
[17:13] Removing the yarn and Leave No Dye Behind
100 g of 20 g minis to see the little amount of blue dye left
[19:09] Heat setting the yarn
heat for about an hour
[20:31] Washing the yarn
[22:42] The finished dry yarn
[25:23] Twisted Mini Skeins
[27:04] Dyeing the bonus yarn
24 cups of water 100 mL of blue, 50 mL of pink and yellow (all 1% stock solutions) and dyed 200 g of yarn that had presoaked for 30 minutes. THen added acid and heated for 30 minutes.
