Upgrading my Home Gym a Few Easy Ways

Hey, buds! Welcome back with a home gym update video. As you know, training for the NYC Marathon requires more than just miles on the pavement. To avoid injury and run stronger, I needed to seriously commit to strength training for runners—and that meant some serious gym upgrades!
This video is packed with all the details from a Labor Day weekend overhaul, including a DIY flooring extension and the newestpiece of equipment for marathon prep!

I'm super stoked to have this in the gym. I feel like this is going to be awesome for running training. I'm genuinely excited about how this whole home gym is coming together and will use it so much more once Marathon training is finished.
DIY Home Gym Flooring Extension & Organization
The first big project was making the entire space feel usable. We extended our Home Depot rubber gym mats all the way to the wall, getting rid of that awkward carpet buffer strip.
Quick DIY Tips:
Cutting the Mats: I found it much easier to flip the mats over and cut along the thinner ribs on the bottom with a razor blade instead of trying to cut the thicker portions. It doesn't need to be a "fine finish," just good enough for a home gym.
Off-Gassing: These rubber mats can smell! We let the new mats off-gas in the garage for about a month, hosing them down and leaving them in the sun to help the fumes dissipate.
Securing the Seams: We used Gorilla Tape along the seams to keep everything in place and tie the new floor to the old floor.
We also hung mirrors width-wise on the wall and installed a metal pegboard wall rack system for bands, ropes, and smaller attachments to keep the floor clear and organized.
The whole space feels much more organized, open, and ready for serious training!
