Brad Borgman from Motz talks about various types of turf on the market. The height of the blade and material density impact how well it imitates natural grass, and determines their performance, making it ideal for different projects. The 3 main turf types presented by Brad:

(1) Landscape turf - used for residential properties and playgrounds. Individual monofilaments with the pile height between 1.5''-2.25''. This synthetic turf type has an additinoal fiber called thatch, hence the name of the material - Landscape Thatch Material.

(2) Dual Yarn System - a sports grade product. It provides higher durability, wear over time, and added functionality for the sports fields. There are two types of yarn here: monofilament and and slip film. The stitch rows are spaced out a little further from each other than in case of a landscape turf. Sports turf takes in more infill than the landscape turf does.

(3) Pet turf system - very dense, a much shorter pile for easier maintenance. A great combination of functionality with a price that can acommodate projects covering large areas like bigger dog parks. More narrow stitch gauge than the sports turf (0.25'').
