Today I’m taking you to a unique temple where dolls are offered to the deity (मंदिर जहाँ गुड़िया चढाई जाती है) & the other uniqueness of this place is that the temple has two sanctum sanctorums instead of one as is the case in most of the Hindu temples. The place is called Baba Jitto Temple (बाबा जित्तो मंदिर) & it is situated in Jhiri village (झिड़ी) about 20-22 Km from Jammu city in J&K, India.

The deities of this temple are a father & daughter duo, Baba Jitto & his daughter Bua Kodi. Jit Mal ( जीतमल ) well known as Baba Jitto ( बाबा जित्तो ) was a simple and honest farmer who was persecuted by a landlord called Mehta Veer Singh. He preferred to kill himself rather than submit to the unjust demands of the local landlord to part with his crop. He killed himself & attained divinity. His body was cremated in the Jhiri village where his temple stands. A legend has grown around the Baba and his daughter Bua Kodi ( बुआ कौड़ी ). Bua Kodi is believed to be the incarnation of Goddess Vaishno Devi ( वैष्णो देवी ). A large congregation is held around October – November every year which is called Jhiri Mela ( झिड़ी मेला ). This annual fair is held in the Jhiri village in front of the temple. I have already uploaded a video about this fair.
