Tonight at ISPC, we continue Duʿāʾ of the Messenger (ﷺ), our Ramadan Fajr lecture series delivered by Sheikh Saad Slaoui.
“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not humble itself, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.”
In this episode, we reflect on the duʿa the Prophet ﷺ taught for protection from what harms the heart and soul: knowledge that does not benefit, a heart that does not humble itself, a soul that is never satisfied, and a supplication that goes unanswered. It is a deeply searching prayer that teaches us not to be impressed by information alone, but to seek knowledge that transforms us, hearts that soften before Allah, and souls that learn contentment through remembrance and trust. Through this duʿa, we ask Allah to purify our inner life so that what we know, feel, seek, and ask all draw us closer to Him.
This duʿa reminds us that true success is not in how much we gather, but in what brings us benefit in the sight of Allah. In Ramadan, it helps us check our hearts: Is our knowledge changing us? Is our heart present? Is our soul content? Is ourduʿa sincere? Make this supplication part of your daily routine, because it is a powerful prayer for beneficial knowledge, humility, contentment, and accepted duʿa.
