Mount Etna: Huge Double Jet Volcano Eruption, Sicily, Italy, Africa-Eurasia Plates Collision Zone

Описание: A very dramatic situation occurred at Etna's three summit craters over the past few days, including two closely spaced lava fountaining episodes from the North East crater, which is considered a rare event.
On 24 December,the seismic network of the volcano observatory INGV-Osservatorio Etneo in Catania registered an increase of volcanic tremor, ground deformation and infrasonic activity, suggesting a coming surge of magma.
During the night between 25-26 December, strombolian activity started picking up from the BN-2 vent inside the Bocca Nuova crater. This activity became more and more intense over time. Incandescent material was ejected to an approx. height of 100 meters above the crater rim.
This activity persisted throughout the day, but something surprising occurred during the night: the North East crater, the oldest of the summit vents, which had only been occasionally active in recent years, started erupting as well.
