Yabucoa Puerto Rico | Six Years After Hurricane María

Описание: On September 19, 2023 we visited the small town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. The next day would mark the 6th anniversary of its head-on collision with hurricane María. María was a category 4 hurricane that plowed through Puerto Rico on the morning of September 20, 2017.

In many ways you can’t tell, because everything seems “normal”. The vegetation is green again. Utilities are back up and people seem to be living their lives like nothing happened. But it did happen and the signs are everywhere if you know where to look.

I made every effort to be kind with this town. After all, this was ground zero. I’ll show what’s “back to normal”, what needs improvement and what downright messed up. Why? Because that’s what we do. We tell it like is. But keep in mind that this town was brought to its knees just 6 years ago, so in many ways the recovery has been amazing.
