In case you never open Steam’s main store page and don’t read gaming news I am here to inform you that there is a PvP Steam fest going on this week. For all you RTS fans out there there is a selection of such games you can play and despite it being called a PvP fest, most of these can be played vs AI in Skirmish or similar singleplayer modes.

First such demo I would suggest downloading is of Global Conflagration. This fantastic indie modern combat RTS with base building, made by just two talented devs should be releasing by the end of this year with a campaign, skirmish and multiplayer. But during this demo you can try out its more than capable AI in skirmish on several maps and with three factions to choose from. Multiplayer is your second option and it has been updated so that you can see who's currently online to play with.

The second equally comprehensive demo is of ZeroSpace. This sci-fi RTS is probably on par by speed with the previous one, but it has hero units, a much more in depth system of faction powers, and while it too has some capture points, those are used to earn XP and more quickly unlock faction powers. Its demo is going to last until the 16th of February and you have access to the Versus PvP mode with three factions and half a dozen mercenary factions which complement these. In addition to PvP you can also play vs AI in Co-oP and Skirmish on a variety of maps.

Another demo is of Dawn Of Defense. It might not show up on Steam for your yet, but it is already possible to download it from the developers discord server, linked in the description. It is more of a tower defence game than a full RTS, but instead of just a static battlefield you get to control your own units in attacking enemies and are also able to capture territories.
