An interview with Kevin Alexander Gray for the Julian Bond Oral History Project, sponsored by the School of Public Affairs at American University. The project documents the professional rise of Julian Bond from 1960-1968, focusing on his early years in the Atlanta student movement, his work as a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and his rise to national prominence. Conducted by Gregg Ivers, Professor of Government and Project Director, in Columbia, S.C., on February 28th, 2022.
Kevin Alexander Gray is based in Columbia, S.C, where he has lived since the early 1980s. Here, Mr. Gray discusses his personal history and how, inspired by the Southern civil rights movement, that led to his work as a human and civil rights activist, writer, and political organizer. He also discusses his personal and professional relationship with Julian Bond.
