Описание: Diatomite sample obtained near the axis of the Newport-Inglewood Anticline exposed at Upper Newport Bay in southern California. The next step comes tomorrow when I will be analyzing this sample under the scanning electron microscope and polarized light microscope in the lab. I believe I'll see many diatoms and, in my unpurified diatomite samples, perhaps some forams (hence why I believe there was so much CaCO3 to filter out here!), though this would be a surprising find as it seems the water would have been too cold/deep for them here.
