Badaun horror: Two police constables abduct, gangrape 14-year-old girl

Описание: A 14-year-old girl was kidnapped and gangraped by two Uttar Pradesh constables on the night of 31 December in Musajhag Police Station premises of Badaun district.

The constables have been suspended but both are on the run and are absconding arrest.

The girl was reportedly abducted from her house on 31 December by Veer Pal Singh Yadav and Avnish Yadav, who took her to the police station premises and raped her, superintendent of police (City) Lallan Singh said.
Even though the survivor's family approached the police and officials on 1 January about the crime, an FIR against the two absconding constables was only registered on 2 January.Speaking to the news channel, the survivor's mother said that she realised her daughter was missing at around 4 pm on 31 December. "She returned only late on 31 December. When we asked where she was, she said two constables forcefully took her in their vehicle to the Musajhag police station and raped her."

Following the horrifying act, opposition parties slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and said that there is jungle raj in the state under the Samajwadi Party.

BJP leader alleged that such horrifying crimes could not happen unless there was a nexus between criminals and the state government. "Akhilesh's government is protecting these unruly policemen. How will people feel safe in such a jungle raj," the leader added.\
another leader as saying that this was a clear case of custodial death and hence everyone from top to bottom is responsible. "Bureaucrats and officials in Uttar Pradesh are all biased against women. They never take crimes against women seriously. The attitude needs to change," she added.

Earlier this month, CBI had filed a closure report in the death of two teenage cousins in Badaun in western Uttar Pradesh, ruling out murder and rape and concluding that it was a case of suicide.

The bodies of the two cousins, both around 14 years of age, were found hanging in an orchard on May 28. The girls' families had alleged that they were kidnapped and murdered by five youths from the village. The incident sparked an outcry in the country and abroad with questions being raised over the law and order situation.
