In this video we demonstrate how Spatial Audio works in its two core modes: tracked vs fixed. Using a 360° scene, we show how a voice can be placed in the room (tracked) and then transition into a fixed, head-locked voice-over.
First you hear the scene in standard stereo, where the audio stays fixed to your head — fixed mode. Then we switch to tracked Spatial Audio, where the speaker’s voice is anchored in real space and moves independently from your head.
This contrast shows the core principle: tracked audio makes the speaker feel physically present; fixed audio stays inside your head and clearly signals that the voice is non-diegetic.
A bit like Apple's AirPods Headtracking, but you can actually use both at the same time which is a shame.
This distinction is relevant for Dolby Atmos as well, but the current binaural renderer cannot reproduce this behaviour.
