Take A Minute …and transport yourself to another time & place. Filmed in 360° from the air, this video brings you across Greyabbey Bay & Village.
Situated on the eastern shores of Strangford Lough (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) the small village of Greyabbey has evidence of being inhabited for thousands of years. The village derives its name from Grey Abbey, a Cistercian abbey-monastery located on the north side of the village, dating from 1193. Not just a pile of ruins, it is perhaps one of the most important ecclesiastical sites in Ireland.
As you glide inland over the bay you approach Grey Abbey House, considered to be one of the finest Georgian country houses in Ireland and home to the Montgomery family for more than 400 years. The house and estate are private and are used for hosting historical, architectural and horticultural groups and as a filming location for many TV and movie productions (mostly period dramas).
