Camping in the Los Padres National Forest camp ground near Santa Lucia Trail head (2025.12.29). A great place for hiking, bicycling, back country backpacking and legal hunting.
We hiked the Santa Lucia Trail around the gorge with the soothing sound of the river under our feet down the very steep slope and wild animals abound.
When reached the other end of Santa Lucia Trail, we came to the valley where a large meadow with a creek running through it. Santa Lucia Adobe stands under a huge oak tree with roof covered with green moss. The historical Santa Lucia Adobe was built in 1908, two years after the establishment of Monterey National Forest (1906). One of the few remaining adobe guard stations, the rangers assigned here patrolled on foot and on horseback.
