The defamation lawsuit against Fox News filed by Dominion Voting Systems begins today, and things are not expected to go well for the conservative media network. The information that has already come out in pre-trial motions has been devastating to the network, and that will pale in comparison to what will be revealed as the trial proceeds. It begs the question as to why the network chose not to settle the case. Farron Cousins explains what we can expect.

Well folks, today is the day we have been waiting for, for a very long time. Today marks the start of the Dominion Voting System's defamation lawsuit against Fox News. And if recent months of revelations from court motions or any indication, Fox News is about to suffer the biggest public humiliation that that network has ever suffered in its existence. And I could not be more excited. Here's why. What we know so far from the material, like I said, that's been released from the motions that have been made public. We know that Fox News knew that they were lying. We knew that multiple hosts knew these things were false. We knew that some of the evidence they were relying upon was from a woman who claimed to be an internally decapitated time traveler. So that's just what we know. We don't know everything. And I think that's the point that a lot of people have kind of overlooked cuz we look at what we know so far.
We're like, wow, Fox is screwed. And they are, but we are only getting a piece of the puzzle. Okay? The rest of the puzzle is out there, but just because it hasn't been filed in the motions, doesn't mean it's not going to come out in the trial. Usually these motions and the evidence that was presented in these motions had to be presented in order to prevent some kind of appeal or delay from Fox News. So only the relevant info to fight that appeal or the motion filed by Fox is what has been revealed. Again, a tiny piece of a much bigger puzzle. But now that the trial is beginning today, the rest of that puzzle is going to be made public. We are all going to get to see the final picture. We are going to hear the testimony from people like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram, and Tucker Carlson because Fox News stupidly I might add, said yeah, we'll make them available for testimony.
Rupert Murdoch, the judge denied Fox News's lawyers request to prevent Rupert Murdoch from testifying in the trial. We don't know if Murdoch is going to be called, but we do know that the judge ruled that he can be called to testify. So we may have the, the, the owner of the network, the biggest stars on the network, all of them having to testify under oath about how that network lied to the country. This is so massive. I can't even explain the scope of this, but let me read this quote here from CNN's media reporter Oliver Darcy, because I think Darcy just kind of nails it here. The network has always seemed
To find a way to sail through the controversy. Even the most hellish storms it has faced, sometimes it has emerged even stronger and more emboldened than before, but this time is different this time. The normal tricks the network turns to during times of crisis will not free it from trouble. This time in a court of law, the network will need to put forward an honest fact driven argument. If the pre-trial hearings are any indicator, it won't be pretty. The case hasn't even started and the presiding judge has already lost his patience with Fox's legal team and put them on notice. Perhaps the winds will shift for Fox News when the judge gavels in the trial Monday, but if they play out like the rest of the few weeks of court have, Fox News is in for a brutal ride. And of course, we can't forget the fact that last week, this very same judge had to sanction Fox News for withholding evidence. That story actually came out the day before jury selection in the case. So that jury probably already knows that they're about to be presented with some facts from Fox News that aren't exactly on the level, and they're dealing with lawyers who intentionally withheld information to the point where they may be prosecuted for it. So, buckle up folks, it's gonna be a hell of a ride. Woo.
