Short stack but far from out, I sit with 35 big blinds and open J♦️10♣️ from the hijack. Joey Wiseman flats from the small blind, and we head heads-up to a deceptively dangerous flop.
The board comes A-K-2, and after his check, I’m faced with a decision: slow things down or represent strength in a spot where ranges matter a lot. I choose a small continuation bet — and get called.
The turn brings a 4, adding a flush draw and opening the door for pressure. Joey checks again, and now the hand becomes all about leverage, stack depth, and targeting the right part of his range. With serious money on the line, I size up and put him to the test.
This is one of those tournament moments where timing is everything.
Will the pressure be enough… or does this backfire with $300,000 at stake?
